Hermiston Irrigation District has an opening for a District
Manager position. HID is approximately 10,000 acres and is a Bureau of
Reclamation project which includes Cold Spring Reservoir.
The District Manager is responsible for the administration and implementation of the District’s policies and programs as adopted by the Board of Directors, for the day to day operations of running the District, directs and coordinates the activities of all District employees, evaluates general operational procedures and takes appropriate action as required.
This job is located in Hermiston. OR and the District Manager must reside within or near the District boundaries. Frequent daily travel and occasional overnight travel are required.

The Klamath Irrigation District (KID) operating in the U.S.
Bureau of Reclamation’s Klamath Project is seeking a Secretary/Manager.
The Secretary/Manager reports to a five-member board
and is responsible for implementing the board’s policies and directives.
KID delivers water to a 75,000 acre service area in South
Central Oregon and has 25 full-time employees.
A qualified applicant will have a combination of education
and experience that may include a bachelor’s degree in agricultural, civil, or
irrigation engineering or a related discipline of engineering, business
administration, public administration, physical sciences, or similar
disciplines.
Desired experience includes progressively responsible
assignments in irrigation districts or similar water resources organizations, or
other similar public sector organizations.
Successful experience in budget management, employee
relations and regulatory compliance is required.
Must be proficient in public relations.

Field Assistant - Middle Fork Irrigation District

The successful applicant will be a career oriented, motivated, self starter
committed to the success of the organization.
General Description
This is a multi task position requiring various skill sets.
The individual in this position must become
knowledgeable of and have the ability to independently and efficiently operate
the districts irrigation and hydro power facilities within one year of start
date. This individual will demonstrate the ability to safely operate electrical
equipment, backhoes, forklifts, a small dump truck as well as various hand and
power tools in the performance of daily activities associated with the
operation, installation and maintenance of district facilities in all weather
conditions.
The successful applicant must be competent in and
experienced with spreadsheet and word programs, have a strong background in math
and science with good analytical, written and oral communication skills. This
person is required to live within a geographic location that would allow a safe
commute to district facilities within 45 minutes.
This person will be part of a
weekly duty rotation with other employees and when “on call” is required to
arrive at district facilities within 45 minutes, 24 hours a day when necessary.

Tasks
Safely operate, maintain and repair district facilities including pressure
pipeline systems, hydro turbine generators and associated auxiliary equipment.
Collect, summarize and archive information using water quality monitoring equipment including flow meters, water level recorders, water temperature monitoring and recording equipment, turbidity meters etc. This person will interact professionally with co-workers, district patrons, persons with regulatory authority and the general public.
Once familiar with the districts operation this individual will be able to compile information and draft reports for submittal to various organizations including regulatory agencies. When qualified, this individual will be expected to perform maintenance and repair on electrical and electronic equipment.
Tools, Equipment & Materials Used
Chain saws, pipe cutting equipment, grinders, slugger wrench, pipe
wrench, end wrench, lifting equipment, pumps, shovels, personal protective
equipment, backhoe, forklift, small dump truck, pvc glue and primers, paints,
large batteries, basic electrical test equipment etc.
Skills, Knowledge and
Abilities
Skills and knowledge that will assist this individual in performance of
their duties are:
A thorough understanding of the operation and maintenance of pressure pipeline distribution systems, electrical power generating and control equipment, data collection and summarization as well as strong written and verbal communication skills. The incumbent should be able to lift at least 60lbs.
Education/Training
While specific education levels are not required, the individual selected must
demonstrate a commitment to lifelong learning and self improvement beyond high
school thru higher learning programs, continuing education, trade associations
or similar efforts. District
sponsored training programs may be required in subject areas specific to this
job.
